Each week, we feature a couple from our latest issue.

On her birthday, Megan Diedalis (then Megan Waldmann) received a handmade card from her two nieces, in which they had drawn a picture of Ric Diedalis proposing and written the question: “Can Fricky be our uncle? Please say yes.” Ric also had organized a surprise engagement party across the street, waiting for Megan, at Brick: An American Kitchen.

Megan and Ric met in high school—he was friends with her brother—and then moved back home after college before they realized there was “something more” and started dating, says Megan. They dated for five years before becoming engaged, but waited only 14 months after that to tie the knot.

Megan and her mother put much effort into all the details of the ceremony and the reception, “down to the trays that the cookies were served on and the late-night bites ... that were special for Ric and I,” says Megan.

After an overwhelming period of planning for the big day, the young married couple was finally able to fully enjoy the party. “Dancing at the reception ... being so stress-free and knowing that we were officially husband and wife was amazing,” says Megan.
